The third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia could be a stop-start affair with rain forecast on all five days of the match, beginning on December 14 at the Gabba.
The five-Test series is locked at 1-1 after India won the opener in Perth by 295 runs and the hosts came storming back to level things up with a 10-wicket win in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide.

Besides deciding their respective playing eleven, both the teams will also keep an eye on the weather and deploy personnel accordingly, with the fast bowlers looking to enjoy the bounce on a juicy track in overcast conditions that may further make life difficult for the batters.
The forecast is for partly cloudy skies with medium chances of showers throughout the match, with maximum temperature between 30 and 32. The good part about the forecast as of now is that no heavy rain or thunderstorms are predicted.
Here’s what the local weather forecast from December 14 to 18 says:

Dec-14-18

The pitch for the game is expected to provide more assistance to fast bowlers, considering the match is being played in the early part of the Australian summer.
When India won the Gabba Test on their last tour in 2020-21, the match was played in January, when the pitch had already had some amount of wear and tear after being used for the Sheffield Shield matches.
The pitch curator at the Gabba has said the pitch will be relatively more “fresh” and offer a fair amount of “pace and carry”.
