Inter Milan & Italy Star’s Injury Nightmare Longer Than Expected – Out For Serie A Clash Vs Lazio

Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi will miss his team’s Serie A match against Lazio as he continues to struggle with injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the 36-year-old’s recovery from a thigh strain is taking longer than expected.

Acerbi is currently on the sidelines with a thigh problem.

The Italian international picked up the injury during Inter’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona last month.

Acerbi had been in the starting eleven for that match, Inter’s first after the November international break.

However, the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender only saw out fifteen minutes. Then, an injury forced him off, with Stefan de Vrij taking his place from the bench.

The hope has been that Acerbi would be back fairly quickly from his injury.

However, that is not how things have turned out.

Despite initial indications that Acerbi would be able to recover more quickly from his thigh strain than from the one he suffered in October, that’s not really been the case.

Acerbi had seemingly been on track to recover in time for Inter’s next match. That comes against his former team Lazio in Serie A.

But the Gazzetta report that Acerbi is still not recovering quickly enough. He will miss the match against the Biancocelesti.
