Mike Green entering NFL Draft after leading nation in sacks

Date:

Edge rusher Mike Green is making the move to the NFL after a big 2024 season at Marshall.

Green posted 17 sacks for the Thundering Herd this season, which was the most for any player in the Football Bowl Subdivision. He announced his plans to forego his remaining eligibility and head to the NFL on Friday.

Green also led the nation with 23 tackles for losses and had 84 tackles, three forced fumbles, two passes defensed, and a fumble recovery to help his team win the Sun Belt Conference.

It was a breakout season for Green. He had 4.5 sacks for Marshall during the 2023 season and began his college career by playing six games for Virginia during the 2021 season.

Given the premium placed on pass rushing in the NFL, Green’s 2024 exploits likely caught the eye of a number of teams who will be interested in seeing if he can make the same impact for them in 2025 and beyond.
