Poland emerges as the biggest threat should Spain land in a five-team group. However, the team has faced significant struggles recently, as seen during the European Championship and the Nations League, where they were relegated to League B. Despite these setbacks, Poland still boasts Robert Lewandowski, an undisputed legend and the player with the most appearances and goals in the national team’s history. While Zielinski (Inter) has seen his influence wane, players like Kiwior (Arsenal), Zalewski (Roma), and Cash (Aston Villa) remain important figures from major leagues.

From Finland, Teemu Pukki continues to shine as a national icon. Although now playing in MLS, Pukki is still a part of a team whose standout players today include Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Hradecky, under Xabi Alonso, and Glenn Kamara of Rennes. Additionally, Pohjanpalo, now with Venezia, remains a powerful striker. However, this is far from Finland’s best era.

Lithuania, a country with limited footballing tradition, places its hopes on the young Gineitis (Torino). With no participation in major tournaments and far from the elite players of the past, like former Real Sociedad forward Jankauskas—now their national coach—attacking midfielder Cernych stands out as their most prominent player in an otherwise vulnerable squad.

Lastly, Malta’s standout player is Teddy Teuma in midfield, along with Buhagiar from Brescia in attack. The team continues to struggle to climb out of the depths of European football and faces an almost impossible challenge in their group. Not even topping League D in the Nations League was achievable.Lewandowski’s Last Train

AS, Lewandowski’s Last Train

The Arsenal defender, alongside Roma’s Nicola Zalewski and Aston Villa’s Matty Cash, has been highlighted as part of a new core supporting Polish legend Robert Lewandowski, the country’s all-time leading scorer.

While Poland has struggled in recent tournaments—suffering relegation to League B in the Nations League and enduring a lacklustre European Championship—Kiwior’s inclusion in this elite group signals his growing influence on the national team.

His performances in the Premier League have cemented his status as a dependable presence in defence, representing a major league player at a time when Poland seeks to rebuild and regain its competitive edge on the international stage.

Kiwior’s rise also reflects Arsenal’s continued investment in young, high-potential talent, and his development under Mikel Arteta has further strengthened his reputation.

As Poland looks to regain form, Kiwior’s role is set to be pivotal in their defensive stability and broader ambitions.
