Report: Maxx Crosby to undergo ankle surgery, 2024 season likely over

Date:

It looks like Maxx Crosby’s 2024 season has come to an end.

Already ruled out for Monday’s matchup with the Falcons, Crosby is expected to undergo arthroscopic ankle surgery in the coming week that would sideline him for the rest of the year, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Crosby, 27, has been battling through an ankle injury nearly all season long after sustaining it in Week 2. He did not practice all week due to the issue.

Nevertheless, Crosby currently leads the league with 17 tackles for loss this season. He’s also registered 7.5 sacks and 20 quarterback hits.

Schefter reports Crosby is slated to meet with Dr. Rob Anderson on Monday to undergo arthroscopic surgery. That will determine how much damage the ankle has sustained and whether or not Crosby will need another procedure. While Crosby has played through the injury, doctors fear the extent of Crosby’s injury may be worse than initially thought.

Crosby had not missed a game in his career until this season, when he was inactive for the Week 4 win over Cleveland due to the ankle injury. A fourth-round pick in 2019, He’s recorded 59.5 career sacks, 105 tackles for loss, and 144 quarterback hits in 95 games.
