In a friendly cricket match organised to create awareness of tuberculosis (TB), the Lok Sabha Speaker XI defeated the Rajya Sabha Chairman XI by 73 runs in New Delhi on Sunday (December 15, 2024). BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh Anurag Singh Thakur was the man of the match, scoring an unbeaten 111 runs from 59 balls.
The Speaker’s XI set a target of 251 runs after losing seven wickets in 20 overs. The Chairman’s team could score only 178 runs, losing eight wickets. Former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin scored 74 runs facing 42 balls for the Rajya Sabha team. Lok Sabha MPs Deepender Hooda and Nishikant Dubey got the prizes for best bowler and best fielder respectively.
The best batsman was Mr. Azharuddin and Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and MP Imran Pratapgarhi got the golden duck prize. K. Sudhakar, MP from Karnataka, won the Super Six prize and Manoj Tiwari got the Super Catch Award. The fighter of the match title was given to Chandrashekhar Azad, MP from Uttar Pradesh.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the match and Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal distributed prizes to the players. Mr. Birla congratulated the organiser of the match, Mr. Thakur, and said collective efforts will eradicate TB from India.
