Week 16 2024 NFL picks, Florio vs. Simms

Date:

Three weeks left, and things are still tight.

In the straight-up contest, I lead Simms by four games. We went 12-4 each in Week 15.

Against the spread, we were both 9-7.

For the year, I’m now 155-69 straight up; he’s 151-73. Against the spread, I’m at 130-90-4. He’s 112-108-4.

This week, we disagree on two games straight up and six against the spread.

Texans at Chiefs (-3.5)

The Texans still don’t have a signature road win.

Simms: Chiefs, 24-20.

Steelers at Ravens (-6.5)

The Steelers have won eight of nine over the Ravens. It’s time for that trend to reverse itself.

Florio: Ravens, 23-17.

Simms: Ravens, 28-20.

Giants at Falcons (-8.5)

How well does Michael Penix Jr. need to play? All he needs to do is be better than Kirk Cousins has been.

Simms: Falcons, 21-17.

Cardinals (-4.5) at Panthers

The Panthers continue to play better, without winning.

Florio: Cardinals, 30-23.

Simms: Cardinals, 28-24.

Lions (-6.5) at Bears

The defensive injuries are at critical mass. The offense might be one-dimensional. The Lions are playing in the cold for the first time this year. And the Bears are due to end their losing streak.

Simms: Lions, 27-17.

Browns at Bengals (-7.5)

Cincinnati keeps its flimsy playoff hopes alive.

Florio: Bengals, 27-20.

Simms: Bengals, 31-21.

Titans at Colts (-3.5)

The air went out of Indy’s balloons when Jonathan Taylor dropped the ball short of the goal line. Throw in Tennessee coach Brian Callahan’s epic rant in response to a question about the team being soft, and it’s just enough for the Titans to get another win.

Florio: Titans, 24-21.

Simms: Colts, 23-20.

Rams (-3) at Jets

L.A. can taste the NFC West crown. The Jets are nibbling on the last morsels of another rancid season.

Simms: Rams, 28-21.

Eagles (-3.5) at Commanders

The Eagles keep soaring toward the No. 1 seed. The Commanders could be clinging for dear life to their playoff berth.

Vikings (-3) at Seahawks

The Vikings won’t be blowing their slim chance at the No. 1 seed.

The gap between the have and have nots is as big as it was in the ’70s.

Florio: Bills, 42-13.

Simms: Bills, 34-14.

Jaguars at Raiders (-1)

What happens in Vegas really should stay in Vegas.

Florio: Raiders, 17-10.

Simms: Raiders, 19-16.

49ers at Dolphins (-1)

Both teams are cooked. The 49ers seem less cooked.

Florio: 49ers, 24-21.

Buccaneers (-3.5) at Cowboys

Tampa Bay’s path to the NFC South crown gets clearer and clearer.
