(FOX40.COM) — California Highway Patrol officers from the Sacramento area helped respond to a single-vehicle crash that involved a classic muscle car.
The crash involved a rare Shelby Cobra, according to a Facebook post by the CHP.
Modesto Police recover thousands of dollars in stolen property and tow five vehicles
CHP said that the driver went through a wet patch on Highway 50 east of Sacramento while accelerating, lost control, and veered off the road, striking a metal guard rail.
The driver and the passenger were able to escape without any serious injuries, but the classic car did not fare so well.
If the vehicle is a legitimate Cobra instead of a replica, the owner will have to pay a hefty bill if the plan is to restore it to its former glory, as original cars are valued at up to $1,000,000.
According to the Dupont Registry, these cars can range from several thousand dollars to more than the price of an average home in California, depending on the car’s quality.
The CHP took the opportunity to remind everyone to always drive at a safe speed and adjust for current roadway conditions.
