Patrick Mahomes’ injured ankle seems OK so far.
The Chiefs quarterback just put up his team’s first points on Saturday afternoon, rushing for a 15-yard touchdown to give Kansas City a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
Kansas City’s defense ended Houston’s first drive with an interception, as rookie defensive back Jaden Hicks picked off C.J. Stroud on third-and-12. That set up the Chiefs at their own 34-yard line.
While a holding penalty set the Chiefs back to third-and-13, Mahomes put his injured ankle to the test early with a 12-yard scramble to set up fourth-and-1 at the Houston 29.
That’s when Hollywood Brown got involved, making his first catch of the season for a 12-yard gain to move the chains.
A play later, Mahomes scrambled up the middle and found his way to the end zone for his second rushing touchdown of the season.
