Boys’ Basketball Prevails vs. Solon at Home in Non-League Matchup, 68-55 — Central Catholic High School

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team defeated Solon on Saturday in a non-conference contest in the Sullivan Center.  With the double-digit home victory, CCHS improves to 4-0 on the season.

The Fighting Irish outscored the visiting Comets 36-26 in the 2nd half to remain unbeaten.

Sophomore Isaiah Mack-Russell paced the Scarlet & Gray with a game-high 22 points. A 2023-24 Division II Honorable Mention All-Ohio selection, Mack-Russell has now poured in at least 20 points in 3 contests this season.

Junior Manny Johnson nearly totaled a triple-double for the 2nd-straight game, finishing with 13 points, a team-high 13 boards, and a squad-best 7 helpers.  

Junior Kaeden Carruthers added 12 points and 10 caroms to post a double-double in the victory, followed closely by sophomore Cayden Kynard with 10 points.

Luke Kormuth led the Comets with 19 points, Khyier Robinson contributed 13 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team claimed a 43-38 triumph vs. Solon, while the junior varsity squad secured a 58-44 victory.

The Fighting Irish will return to the hardwood against Lima Senior on Saturday, December 28, starting with the freshmen game at 2 p.m.
