Barcelona Willing to Sell €60M-Rated Liverpool, PSG Target for ‘Modest’ Fee

The future of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong remains uncertain with his current contract set to expire in 2026. After this season, the Dutchman will have one year left on his deal. As a result, unless he signs a new contract before this summer, there’s the possibility he will depart.

In October, SPORT reported that Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a close eye on de Jong. While de Jong remains committed to staying at Barcelona, PSG’s history of signing players from the Catalan club makes them a potential destination next summer.

Fichajes recently reported that Borussia Dortmund could emerge as an unexpected contender for the 27-year-old. The same source also mentioned that Liverpool could be interested in de Jong as a potential midfield addition.

However, Diario AS recently noted that the midfielder is happy at the club and has no intention of leaving, even if Barcelona entertains significant offers for him.

A recent report from SPORT revealed that Barcelona has approached de Jong to initiate contract renewal talks. The club wants to avoid key players entering the final 12 months of their contracts. Still, they’re optimistic about securing extensions before next summer, with early discussions reportedly going well.

The latest information comes from journalist Miguel Rico, who reports that Barcelona appears to have lost confidence in De Jong on the pitch. With the club’s contract offer now expired, it seems increasingly likely he could leave for a relatively “modest” fee soon.

SPORT also reported that Barcelona has issued ultimatums to de Jong and Ronald Araújo, whose contracts run until 2026. If they decline to sign renewals, the club will consider selling them. While no asking price has been set, Transfermarkt values him at €60 million.
