Charlie Woods makes ace during final round of PNC Championship

Date:

Charlie Woods has played in five PNC Championships.

He just recorded his first hole-in-one in the event.

Woods, 15, aced the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club’s par-3 fourth hole during Sunday’s final round of the PNC Championship, holing out from 175 yards with a 7-iron.

“It was a perfect 7-iron, so I just kind of hit it … little cut 7,” said the younger Woods just moments after the shot, then adding, “I didn’t think it went in. I don’t believe anybody until I go up there and see it.”

The hole-in-one moved Woods and his dad, Tiger, to 17 under, a shot clear of the field in the annual parent-child event in Orlando, Florida, including Bernhard Langer and his son, Jason, who are paired with Team Woods.

Tiger Woods, who carded his first hole-in-one in PGA Tour competition during his pro debut at the 1996 Greater Milwaukee Open, was later shown telling his son that, “He’s buying.” Presumably sodas.

To which Charlie replied, “I’m broke.”

NBC on-course reporter Bones Mackay added that he’d never seen Tiger happier on the golf course.
