37th over — Penfold continues

FOUR. Penfold bowls full and Ash Gardner plays the perfect off-drive to the boundary.

FOUR. Penfold tries a shorter ball, but it is on the hip of Gardner who pulls to backward square and to the rope. This is a great start to the over for the Australians.

Penfold bowls a much better line and length and forces Gardner into consecutive blocks.

Gardner works a ball off middle-and-off into the leg side for a single.

INSIDE EDGE. That is the third time Talhia McGrath has got an inside edge, but it falls safely.

36th over — Devine continues

Sophie Devine bowls to Tahlia McGrath who defends the first ball.

A ball on the pads is flicked to short fine leg, but fielded for no run.

INSIDE EDGE. Again, Tahlian McGrath has edged onto her pads trying to hit a cover drive.

Devine has a slow, shorter ball, outside off stump. McGrath misses the attempted pull shot.

A drive to mid-off is fielded for no run.

It is a repeat for the final ball of the over.

That is a maiden over for Sophie Devine.

35th over — Molly Penfold back into the attack

With the breeze at her back, Molly Penfold comes into the attack.

Her first ball is outside off stump and Tahlia McGrath misses the cut shot.

McGrath edges but it safely roles to third for a single.

Ash Gardner then gets a single into the leg side.

Penfold bowls short and McGrath hits a cut shot in the air, but it goes wide of backward point for two runs.

WIDE. Penfold tries to bowl at McGrath’s body, but it just goes down the leg side.

McGrath defends on the back foot.

Australia take a quick single off a fend to the off side to end the over.

34th over — Devine continues

BEATEN. Sophie Devine bowls with outswing and beats the outside edge of Ash Gardner.

Gardner punches the second ball of the over into cover for a single.

A short ball is ducked under by Tahlia McGrath.

A dot ball follows.

INSIDE EDGE. McGrath went for the big drive through cover, and an inside edge went onto the Australian’s pad.

McGrath drives the final ball of the over straight and takes a quick single.

31st over — Amelia Kerr back into the attack

FOUR. Annabel Sutherland skips down the wicket and hits a lofted drive. It is JUST wide of a diving Molly Penfold at mid-off. Four runs for Sutherland, but Kerr will be encouraged by that.

Kerr follows with two dot balls, including fielding a drive from Sutherland.

FOUR. Bad ball from Kerr. She got her line wrong, dragged the ball short, and it was hooked past short fine leg and to the boundary.

Sutherland opens the face of her bat and plays it to short-third for a single.

That is the 50-run partnership for Annabel Sutherland and Ash Gardner.

FOUR WIDES. Bowling to Gardner, the wrong-un goes down the leg side, gets past the gloves of wicketkeeper Izzy Gaze, and gets to the boundary. A free five runs for Australia.

New Zealand’s captain Sophie Devine is back into the attack.

Her first ball is a dot, then Ash Gardner gets a single.

Devine bowls three dot balls to Annabel Sutherland, who works the final ball off her hip to mid-wicket for a single.

29th over — Penfold continues

Molly Penfold bowls.

WIDE. It’s another ball down leg side. Penfold has struggled to maintain her line throughout this innings.

Sutherland then works a single, the Gardner hits a single to the leg side.

A short ball from Penfold is pulled to deep square for a single to Sutherland.

Another short ball is then hooked to fine leg for a single to Garnder.

Sutherland defends on the back foot.

Penfold bowls the final ball of the over and it is fended by Sutherland.

28th over — Carson

Carson bowls to Gardner who defends, then gets a single.

Sutherland is facing and has a dot ball, then plays the lap shot down to fine leg for two.

FOUR. A great drive past backward point goes to the rope. That is a great shot from Annabel Sutherland.

EDGE. A genuine edge of Sutherland’s bat, but there is no slip. Australia are able to run three.

27th over — Molly Penfold returns as the 150 comes up for Australia

New Zealand have gone back to Molly Penfold and her right-arm pace.

Her first ball to Ash Gardner swings into the right-hander. Gardner gets an inside edge for a single.

Annabel Sutherland fends into the off side and takes a single.

That is 150 for Australia.

A cover drive to the fielder in the deep gets a single for Gardner.

A short ball to Sutherland is fended away to the leg side for another run.

WIDE. Penfold bowls a bouncer but it goes over Gardner’s head.

Penfold follows up with a good ball, back of a length, which is fended for no run.

A block and quick single ends the over.

26th over — Carson back into the attack

Eden Carson is back to bowl her finger spin.

Carson bowls to Sutherland who defends the first two balls of the over.

FOUR. Sutherland takes a couple of steps down the wicket and then punches through the covers. But she middles the shot and it goes to the rope. Great shot.

Sutherland fends into the leg side for no run.

Another shot to mid-wicket goes for no run.

And again, a dot ball to mid-on ends the over.

25th over — Kerr continues

Kerr bowls to Gardner who gets off strike with a single.

The next ball to Sutherland is driven, but fielded by the bowler.

Sutherland punches a ball into the off side for a single.

FOUR. Ash Gardner plays a great cover drive, gets it past the fielder, and finds the rope.

Kerr follows up with the wrong-un but Gardner is able to fend away.

The final ball of the over is also fended away.

24th over — Mair continues

FOUR. Annabel Sutherland gets a half-volley and she plays a lofted drive over Mair’s head to the rope. A glorious shot.

Sutherland then defends the next ball from Mair.

A drive to the fielder at deep cover nets another single for Sutherland.

Gardner on strike and she drives to mid-on for no run.

Mair bowls and beats the outside edge of Gardner who was trying to cut. That looked like a slower ball from Mair.

A cover drive to the fielder in the deep gets a single to end the over.

23rd over — Amelia Kerr continues

Kerr continues after starting the White Ferns’s fight back.

Kerr bowls to Sutherland who plays two drives, but finds the fielder.

A cut shot from Sutherland goes past the fielder at backward point for a single.

Ash Gardner is on strike and defends off the back foot.

Gardner drives and gets a thick edge which goes down to third for two runs.

A confident cover drive from Gardner gets two runs to end the over.

22nd over continues — Ash Gardner batting

Ash Gardner walks out to the middle and fends the final two deliveries of the Rosemary Mair over.

WICKET. MOONEY IS OUT

Out. Beth Mooney has chipped a ball straight to mid-wicket.
