The UNC basketball program has been a bug in the ear for top-25 recruit Cam Holmes. Holmes, a junior, attends Millennium High School. The Goodyear, Arizona native is listed as a four-star per 247Sports and is listed as No. 17 nationally and No. 6 at his position.
Besides North Carolina, Holmes has heard the most from UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, and USC.

This season, Davis’ offense has been guard-heavy — recently seen running four guards at once in UNC’s victory against UCLA in the CBS Sports Classic on Saturday, December 21.
Despite the unorthodox scheme, it was working for the Tar Heels as freshman Ian Jackson was able to create in space — scoring 24 points off the bench, a career-high performance back in his home state.
However, North Carolina has had great wings over the years. Guys like Cameron Johnson and Nassir Little filled that role — with Johnson currently playing in the NBA.
And, of course, 2017 national champion Justin Jackson.
As time passes, it’ll be important for UNC to grab high-level players to stay competitive. Holmes can be one of them when it’s his turn to choose his next basketball destination.
Here is Director of Scouting for 247Sports Adam Finkelstein’s report on Holmes:
“Holmes is a well-built lefty wing who has continued to develop his skill-set. He was showing clear signs of shooting progression over the summer, and that has continued into the season, as he’s a threat to make threes, pull-ups, and even an occasional tough shot, with a much more fluid release than we saw when he was younger. He has good positional size, strength, and length on the wing. He also has a solid feel for the game and is a reliable decision-maker as a passer, particularly in the middle of the court. Holmes is not a dynamic handler, and hasn’t been much of a creator to this point, but is now starting to make some physical drives to take advantage of his physical tools. With his wing size, increasingly strong frame, developing shot-making, steady decision-making, and some untapped defensive upside, he’s trending towards a well-rounded two-way player.”
After reading that report, it wouldn’t hurt to have Holmes on the roster when the times comes.
