A fire caused damage to a State College building on Monday afternoon, leaving residents of four apartments displaced.
Firefighters were dispatched to the house in the 700 block of West College Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. and found heavy smoke and fire on the third floor of a three-story apartment building, Centre Region Fire Director Shawn Kauffman wrote in an email.
All tenants were out of the building when crews arrived, and one tenant who complained of smoke inhalation was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for evaluation. No firefighters were injured.
Alpha Fire Company crews contained the fire to the third floor of the building, and had the blaze under control within about 10 minutes, according to dispatch reports. The building suffered heavy fire and smoke damage, along with some water damage, leaving tenants of the four apartments displaced, Kauffman wrote.
The fire is under investigation.
The 700 block of West College Avenue was closed at North Sparks Street and Patterson Street for about an hour Monday afternoon while crews worked at the scene.
