VERMILLION, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -Grace Larkins knew she was going to be the leader for her Coyotes women’s basketball team under a new head coach.
But her numbers are astounding… She’s the only player in Division One to be in the top 25 in scoring, assists and rebounding.
And she doesn’t mind having that kind of responsibility. Plus she’s become a little more vocal as a leader.
Grace Larkins, USD Senior says, “I used to lead by example often and now I can add that with being a vocal leader which is really special. I’ve grown so much. Anyone that knew me freshman year could attest to that for sure.”
Mark says, They’d say who is this?
Grace says, “Exactly, yes.”
Carrie Eighmey, USD WBB Coach says, “I’ve never recruited or coached a player who plays as hard as she does and that works as hard as she does. She doesn’t ask anything from anybody that she’s not willing to do first. When you have a leader like that, you’ve got a great chance to have a bunch of players who are willing to put out that kind of effort.”
The team seems to be relying a bit less on Grace in recent games which is a good thing. She’s had a terrific career in Vermillion.
