Florida hangs tight in CBS Sports’ college basketball rankings

Date:

Todd Golden and his Florida basketball program are off to a hot start to the 2024-25 campaign having won their first dozen games in the second-longest winning streak in school history.

The team’s success has been reflected in both of the major polls entering the winter holiday week. The Gators cracked the top five in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll coming in right at No. 5 while sliding up to sixth in the Associated Press Poll.

CBS Sports insider Gary Parrish was a little less bullish than those two in his college basketball rankings, placing the Gators at No. 7 — the same spot they were in last week.

CBS Sports Top 10

The Tennessee Volunteers hold the top spot, followed by the Auburn Tigers, Iowa State Cyclones, Duke Blue Devils and Alabama Crimson Tide, respectively, to round out the top five.

The Kansas Jayhawks are sixth, followed by Florida, the Marquette Golden Eagles, Kentucky Wildcats and Michigan State Spartans, respectively, to wrap up the top 10.

Next up for Florida

The Gators host the Stetson Hatters inside the O’Connell Center on Sunday, Dec. 29. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network+.
