Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce put Chiefs up 29-10

Date:

It looks like the Chiefs will be the top seed in the AFC playoffs.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes hit tight end Travis Kelce for a 12-yard touchdown to extend the Chiefs’ lead over the Steelers to 28-10 with 12:38 to play in the game. Kelce became the Chiefs’ all-time receiving touchdown leader — he has 77 — on the play and received a penalty for copying previous leader Tony Gonzalez’s dunk over the goal post celebration.

Kelce, who also moved into 14th place on the NFL’s career receptions list on the day, didn’t wind up costing the Chiefs points because Harrison Butker made the extra point to make it a 29-10 lead.

The touchdown came a few plays after Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth lost a fumble after being hit by Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie. Linebacker Nick Bolton recovered the ball and the Chiefs are now well on their way to a very merry Christmas.
