Saints rule out Derek Carr, Alvin Kamara

Date:

The Saints have ruled out quarterback Derek Carr (left hand) and running back Alvin Kamara (groin) for Sunday’s game against the Raiders.

Carr injured his hand in the Week 14 win over the Giants, and Kamara was hurt after 25 snaps in the Week 15 loss to the Commanders.

Neither player practiced this week.

Rookie Spencer Rattler will make his fifth start of the season in place of Carr.

The Saints also ruled out center Erik McCoy (elbow) and offensive guard Lucas Patrick (knee).

Defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd (eye), wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest), wide receiver Chris Olave (head) and cornerback Rico Payton (illness) are questionable. Payton was a new addition to the practice report Friday.

Olave, who has missed the past six games, was a full participant Friday.
