Shot fired outside Wauwatosa bar, man charged

WAUWATOSA, Wis.A Cudahy man is accused of firing a shot outside a Wauwatosa bar on Monday, Dec. 23.

Court records show 46-year-old Brian Malec is charged with two misdemeanors: intentionally pointing a firearm at a person, and disorderly conduct. The court issued a $10,000 signature bond for Malec on Friday.

Wauwatosa police were called to Walter’s on North around 6:30 p.m. that day. Court filings state Malec got upset and pulled out a gun while employees were trying to break up a fight.

As people pushed Malec into the parking lot, court filings state a struggle started over the gun – and Malec fired a shot into a fence. An employee was then able to get hold of the gun and kept it from Malec until police arrived.

Surveillance video showed Malec with that gun, and court filings state Malec told police he had “nothing to say” about the incident. A witness said Malec had been drinking at the bar for more than six hours that day.
