Kyle Shanahan: I’ve got a good relationship with Jed York, stuff in the media doesn’t change it

Date:

49ers owner Jed York was clear when he said on Monday that head coach Kyle Shanahan and General Manager John Lynch aren’t going anywhere in the coming offseason.

During his Tuesday news conference, Shanahan was asked about those comments and downplayed them, noting his strong relationship with York.

“I’ve got a good relationship with Jed, and we speak almost every day, so hearing stuff in the media doesn’t really change much for me,” Shanahan said, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. “It’s more what I have between him and myself.”

Shanahan added that his communication with York has “definitely” been open and consistent.

“Jed is very easy to talk to,” Shanahan said. “We’ve known each other here for, now eight years, and we feel very fortunate for how he is through the good and the bad. And the communication really never changes, regardless of what’s going on.”

After falling in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII in February, it’s been a trying year for the 49ers. At 6-10, they’ll finish the season with Sunday’s matchup against the Cardinals.
