Ihmir Smith-Marsette’s 100-yard kickoff return earns him player of the week honors

Date:

The NFL’s new kickoff rule hasn’t been quite as “dynamic” as promised, but Giants returner Ihmir Smith-Marsette made a dynamic play on Sunday.

Smith-Marsette has been named NFC special teams player of the week after his 100-yard kickoff-return touchdown in the Giants’ 45-33 win over the Colts.

It tied for the longest kickoff return under this season’s new rules. There have now been seven kickoff return touchdowns in 2024 after there were only four in 2023.

Smith-Marsette has bounced around the league as a returner for the Vikings, Bears, Chiefs, Panthers and now the Giants over the last four years. This was his first player of the week award.
