The start of the New Year brings the start of conference play in CAA men’s basketball, with all 14 teams in action on Thursday and Saturday.
Thursday’s slate features a number of intriguing matchups, with all seven contests tipping at 7 p.m. Hampton (8-5, 1-0 CAA), which picked up a December conference victory over North Carolina A&T, takes a five-game winning streak to two-time defending CAA champion Charleston (10-3), which has won six of its last seven. UNCW (10-3), which is 7-1 in its past eight games, welcomes preseason league favorite Towson (5-8). Elon (9-4) posted its best non-conference performance as a Division I program and hopes to maintain that momentum as it makes the short trip to North Carolina A&T (4-10, 0-1 CAA).
Rounding out Thursday’s schedule, Northeastern (8-5) hosts Delaware (7-6), Drexel (8-5) visits Campbell (5-8), Hofstra (8-5) entertains William & Mary (6-7), and Monmouth (2-11) is home for just the second time this season against Stony Brook (4-9).
