The Rangers Have Their Sights Set On Acquiring J.T. Miller

Date:

All together Rangers fans – and good and loud – LET’S GET J.T. MILLER.

We all know that GM Chris Drury wants Vancouver’s turbulent number one center for the pure and simple reason that the Blueshirts don’t have a number one center.

(Sorry Vincent, Trocheck. Sorry, sizzling hot Mika Zibanejad.)

“Drury knows that in Miller he not only gets a guy who had a career-high 103 points last season,” says The Old Scout, “but automatically brings leadership and maybe even the captaincy.”

Veteran Vancouver hockey writer Ben Kuzma calls Miller, “The straw that stirs the Canucks drink.”

Okay, okay. With such glistening attributes, why in the world would Canucks GM Patrik Allvin want to unload such a prize?

“For one thing,” adds The Old Scout, “J.T.’s bark is as big as his bite. And the fact that he’s been bugging Elias Pettersson so much, it’s been a distracting and running story with the team.”

Then, again, it just may be the time for Allvin to trade Pettersson, who wouldn’t look too shabby in Rangers Blue.

Then again, maybe no trade for a center is needed after all. If Fiery Fil Chytil continues doing his lamplighter imitation and Vinnie Trocheck gets serious, the pivot position should not be a problem.

If you really want to know, the real offensive problem right now is 6-1, 194 pounds worth of wasted money; alias Alexis Lafrenière.

Whoever told the 22-year-old right wing that the season was over when he signed his fat contract was sadly mistaken.

It would be pleasant for all concerned if Big Al resumed scoring today; whether he’s part of a J.T. Miller trade package or not.

We can only hope!
