Skylights Basketball Signs Washington Product

Date:

On Thursday, the MSU-Northern Skylights basketball team announced the signing of transfer Katelynn Forner for the 2024-25 season.

Forner played in the Northwest Athletic Conference at Lower Columbia College in Longview, WA. She was a Red Devils player for two seasons from 2021-23, averaging 7.8 points per game and playing in 54 games, 53 of which were starts. She was part of a (26-1) squad that won the NWAC title her freshman year. Lower Columbia made it all the way to the Round of 16 in the NWAC Championships her sophomore season.

For 2023-24, she transferred to Vancouver Island University in British Columbia, Canada. In 24 games with the Mariners, she put up 3.9 points a contest and grabbed four rebounds a game. The team finished with a record of (20-4).

At Camas High School in Washington state, she was a basketball and softball player, lettering in both sports. Her basketball career was marked by the stuff of legend, leaving as the school’s all-time assists leader and steals leader.

“She is a very hard-nosed player who does a little bit of everything, and the stat sheet doesn’t always reflect what she brings to a team,” Skylights coach Chris Mouat said in a press release. “She is the first one to take a charge and hit the floor for a loose ball and she makes her teammates better.”

One of Forner’s goals coming into college was to finish her business degree, which she will be able to do at MSU-Northern. She will have one year of eligibility remaining.
