MARIETTA — Two Marietta residents are being charged by the Washington County Grand Jury for extortion. Erica Lee Oates, 30, and Christopher Paul Oates, 39, both of 3710 State Route 26, Marietta, were indicted on the charges of extortion, a third-degree felony according to a release from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident took place on July 5th, 2024. According to the court documents, both individuals acted with contempt to obtain a valuable thing or benefit, expose or threaten with any matter to a local Lowell man.
Also indicted by the grand jury were:

* Amy Jo Taylor, 43, 10027 Coakley Road, Logan; one count of tampering with evidence and one count of aggravated possession of drugs from August 2020.
* Michael Douglas Lent, 48, 1117 Paden St, Apt A, Parkersburg; one count of robbery from March 2021.
* Sarah Virginia Lent, 41, 1117 Paden St, Apt A, Parkersburg; one count of complicity in the commission of an offense from March 2021.
* Michael L. Davis, 58, 137 Brandy Drive, Marietta; one count of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle from January 2024.
* Graham M. Cochran, 40, 104 Cherokee Drive, Marietta; one count of aggravated possession of drugs, from December 2022.
* Skylar Michael Paul, 31, 1314 Glendale Road, Marietta; one county of burglary, one count of attempted burglary and one count of theft from June of 2024.
* Anthony Duane Downey, 28, 2010 Vala Vista Court, Akron; one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, one count of aggravated possession of drugs, one count of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and one count of possession of a fentanyl-related compound from June 2024.
* William Lee Lawson, 32, 1429 Oakridge Drive, Dayton; one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, one count of aggravated possession of drugs, one count of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and one count of possession of a fentanyl-related compound from June 2024.
* Keanglis Daitrell Render, 26, 12 Rio Grande Avenue, Trotwood; one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, one count of aggravated possession of drugs, one count of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and one count of possession of a fentanyl-related compound from June 2024.
* Lee Anna Charlton, 42, 1588 Federal Road, Little Hocking; failure to appear as required by recognizance from July 2024.
* Jessica Lee Smith, 32, 34628 Bashan Road, Long Bottom; failure to appear as required by recognizance from July 2024.
* Steven Dallas Oltman, 68, 6581 Cedar Court E, Galloway; failure to appear as required by recognizance from August 2024.
* Leroy Vernon Sheabolt, 65, 2804 Dudley Avenue, Parkersburg; failure to appear as required by recognizance from July 2024.
* Andrew T. Wright, 44, 1415 Graham Road, Cutler; failure to appear as required by recognizance from July 2024.
* Christopher Anthony Jones, 29, 2811 Washington Boulevard, Belpre; four counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, one count of engaging in prostitution, one count of soliciting, one count of obstructing official business from November 2023 to May 2024.
* Darius Deon Robinson, 34, 503 Winding Willow Way, Columbus; two counts of strangulation and one count of assault from July 2024.
* Velinda Key Mantz, 46, 213 Meigs St., Marietta; illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of a specified governmental facility and aggravated possession of drugs from April 2024.
