Pa. routs Washington, 12-2, to stay alive in Little League World Series

Date:

Council Rock Newtown (Pa.) extended its postseason at least one more game in the Little League World Series on Sunday as it scored 12 times in the first three innings en route to a 12-2 win over South Hill Little League from Puyallup, Washington.

The game was played at Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The winners, representing the Mid-Atlantic Region, are scheduled to play next at 3 p.m. Tuesday against the loser of the game between the Mountain and West regions on Monday.

You’ll be able to watch that one on ESPN or live stream on FuboTV (free trial), DirecTV Stream (free trial) and SlingTV (low intro rate).

Paseo Verde Little League, from Henderson, Nevada, represents the Mountain Region and Central East Maui Little League, from Wailuku, Hawaii, represents the West Region.

South Hill, the representative from the West Region, was knocked out of the tournament.

Council Rock Newtown took a 4-0 lead in the first inning as Greyson Gage’s single drove in two runs and Gavin Caudill followed with a double, plating another. Dean Hamilton accounted for the other run when he crossed the plate on a wild pitch.

It became 6-0 in the second, one of those on a Tyler Wexler RBI single and the other when Ryan Uhl scored on a wild pitch.

They doubled their lead in the third inning, scoring six times. Brayden Peiffer scored on a wild pitch and Greyson Gage tripled in one run to make it 8-2. With the bases loaded, Brody Gage singled in one run and Ryan Uhl walked to make it 10-2. Rocco DaBronzo scored on a wild pitch and after another walk reloaded the bases, Will Siveter walked to force in the final run.

Greyson Gage led the winners with two hits, scoring two runs and driving in three.

They finished with nine total hits.

Saverio Longo started for Council Rock Newtown and allowed a hit and two runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Tyler Wexler pitched a scoreless fourth inning to finish off South Hill, with the game shortened by the mercy rule.

Sunday’s elimination bracket game between Aruba and Australia was suspended due to a weather delay in the top of the second inning with the Caribbean champion leading 3-0. The decision was made to resume the game at 10 a.m. Monday so the players could get to the MLB/Little League Classic at Bowman Field.
