The 2024 Democratic National Convention has come to an end — and, as expected, its fourth and final day on Aug. 22 showcased a number of sophisticated footwear looks.
From prominent figures in the entertainment industry to the nation’s former presidents, the DNC brought a myriad of buzzy names to Chicago’s United Center and television screens nationwide. On the final day, Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic presidential nomination, Kerry Washington spoke, Pink performed alongside her daughter Willow Sage, and politicians including Elizabeth Warren made remarks.
See below for some of the shoes seen last night in Chicago as Harris accepted her party’s presidential nomination.
Continuing her pantsuit streak, Harris wore a navy ensemble featuring wide leg pants, a blazer and an elegantly tied blouse. She pulled everything together with complementary dark leather pumps designed with a classic silhouette including a narrow heel and sharp toe. Like the tan suit she wore on day one with beige pumps, this was a bespoke outfit designed by Chloé.
Harris’ recent fashion looks have featured a number of traditional pumps, often in neutral hues that complement her pantsuits. From light beige to black, she’s demonstrated the versatility and elegance of the enduring women’s shoe style.
Harris’ sister Maya Harris, a lawyer, public policy advocate and writer, also took the stage last night. Wearing a similar outfit to the vice president, Harris was dressed in a pink pantsuit with a blazer featuring shoulder pads and pants that flared at the bottom. She accented the rosy pink hue with a pair of sharp white slingback pumps adorned with a dainty bow on the vamp.
Eva Longoria selected a cobalt blue ankle-length gown from Victoria Beckham, which was designed with a flowing skirt and high V-neck. She accented the bold shade of blue with minimalistic heeled sandals featuring a curved strap across the toes.
Washington was one of many Hollywood stars present at the DNC. She stepped on stage in a crisp white ensemble from Santiclet consisting of a pencil skirt with a layer of lace trim and a collared top, both made of a crocheted material. She offset the bright white with a pair of neutral-toned beige pumps with a sharp toe and slender heel.
The Chicks fastfowarded to fall, and performed the National Anthem in black leather boots. While Robison and Maines’ footwear was largely obscured by their black dress pants, Maguire paired her shoes with tights and a belted gray blazer. She wore a pair of pointed ankle boots that featured a short block heel and sheer black tights.
Pink brought her impressive musical chops to the DNC as well as her distinctive style. She wore a strapless belted dress over wide leg pants, elevating the edgy look with platform boots featuring a thick block heel. The black leather shoes aligned with the aesthetic of her daughter Willow’s platform combat boots.
While many other women on stage wore pumps, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts made her speech in black leather boots featuring a short block heel. She matched the shoes to a pair of tapered black pants, black top and a vibrant light blue jacket.
Kamala Harris’ close relations were also in Chicago supporting her. Her stepdaughter Ella Emhoff wore a unique off-the-shoulder dress that she designed with Joe Ando; the pale blue and white gown was paired with black Mary Janes and white ankle socks. She was joined on stage by Harris’ goddaughter Helena Hudlin, who paired classic beige pumps with a satiny red gown. Harris’ niece Meena Harris, meanwhile, opted for a skirt and jacket set patterned with dainty flowers; she completed the look with pointy white pumps.
