Toni Kroos backs Real Madrid to win La Liga, makes bold prediction about Barcelona

Date:

After a stunning 2023/24 campaign, Real Madrid have endured a relatively slow start to the new season.

The reigning European champions were far from their best in the UEFA Super Cup tie against Atalanta, despite the 2-0 win. That was followed by a subpar performance against RCD Mallorca in the opening league game, with the team settling for a 1-1 draw.

Real Madrid bounced back to winning ways against Rayo Vallecano, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory, but the club achieved it without either Kylian Mbappe or Vinicius Junior performing to their full potential.

Kroos’ prediction on La Liga this season

Despite Real Madrid’s slow start, however, former midfielder Toni Kroos has backed Los Blancos to secure the league title this season.

“Real Madrid will win the league, I have no doubt,” Kroos said in a recent media interaction (h/t Diario AS).

Up until the end of last season, Kroos was one of Real Madrid’s most important players. In fact, he played a key role in helping Los Blancos secure another Champions League title before eventually retiring from football.

During his stellar spell at Real Madrid, Kroos featured in 465 competitive matches for the club, winning five Champions League titles in the process.

Kroos’ bold prediction on Barcelona

Apart from backing Real Madrid to win the league title this season, Kroos has suggested that there will be a close fight between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for the second place.

Interestingly, though perhaps not surprisingly, Kroos expects Barcelona to finish below Atletico Madrid in the table come the end of the season.

The German essentially believes the Catalans will finish third in La Liga this season. The club, though, have enjoyed a stellar start to the new season, securing three wins in a row and are currently leading the table.
