Britain’s Dan Evans is back in action on day four of the US Open following his epic five-set victory in the first round.

The 34-year-old came from 4-0 down in the final set to beat 23rd seed Karen Khachanov after five hours and 35 minutes – making it the longest match in the tournament’s history.

Two days on and Evans will be take to the court again for his second-round match against Argentina’s Mariano Navone.

Navone is through to the second round for the first time after a four-set win over Germany’s Daniel Altmaier.

Court five is dominated by Britons on Thursday, with Evans following Katie Boulter and Jack Draper.

British number one Boulter, the 31st seed, takes on Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro from around 18:00 BST.

While Bouzas Maneiro is ranked 74th in the world she is not to be taken lightly, having claimed a shock first-round win over defending champion Marketa Vondrousova at Wimbledon earlier this year.

Boulter came from a set down to beat Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich in round one.

Meanwhile, fellow British number one Draper will play Facundo Diaz Acosta of Argentina.

Draper cruised through to the second round when Chinese number one Zhang Zhizhen retired with a knee injury as the 25th seed Briton led 6-3 6-0 4-0.

The British interest on court five doesn’t end there as Joe Salisbury and American partner Rajeev Ram begin their bid for a fourth straight men’s doubles title in New York.

The third seeds face Diaz Acosta and compatriot Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Who else is in action on day four?

World number one Jannik Sinner opens play on Arthur Ashe Stadium against Alex Michelsen of the US.

Italy’s Sinner is aiming for a second Grand Slam title after winning the Australian Open, but had a turbulent build-up to the tournament after it was revealed he tested positive for a banned substance in March.

Sinner is followed by women’s top seed Iga Swiatek, who will be the overwhelming favourite against Japanese qualifier Ena Shibahara.

Two-time US Open winner Naomi Osaka of Japan kicks off the evening session against Czech Republic’s Karolina Muchova.

Carlos Alcaraz then rounds things off against the Netherlands’ Botic van de Zandschlup.

Elsewhere, French Open and Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini faces former world number one Karolina Pliskova, followed by an all-American contest between Emma Raducanu’s conqueror Sofia Kenin and sixth seed Jessica Peluga.

Men’s fifth seed Daniil Medvedev takes on Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan in the evening session.

There is also plenty of doubles action, with significant British interest.

Jamie Murray is due to play in both the men’s and the mixed doubles on court six, Heather Watson goes in the women’s doubles while Neal Skupski and partner Desirae Krawczyk of the US are also in action.

Harriet Dart, Lloyd Glasspool, Olivia Nicholls, Maia Lumsden and Luke Johnson are the other Brits on court in the doubles.
