Stephen Curry is staying in the Bay for the near future.
The star guard has agreed to a one-year, $62.6 million extension that will keep him with the Golden State Warriors through the 2026-27 season, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The extension is reportedly expected to be signed today.

Curry has two years remaining on his contract, but had reportedly wanted to nail down an extension sometime this summer. The 36-year-old guard has $178 million guaranteed over the next three years of his deal.
Although Golden State may have wanted to extend him for longer, the extension is limited to one year as a result of the NBA’s over-38 rule, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks. Under the NBA collective bargaining agreement, teams cannot offer contracts lasting four or more years to players who are more than 38 years old or will turn 38 during the contract. Curry will turn 38 in 2026, at the start of this extension.
Curry has spent his entire career with the Warriors, having been drafted by the team in 2009. In an interview with Yahoo Sports in July, the Golden State star said he wants to be “a Warrior for life.”
Curry is a 10-time All-Star, two-time MVP and has helped the team to four NBA championships. He holds franchise records in points, assists, steals, 3-pointers and much more.
