Dwayne Bravo announces retirement from T20 cricket
Bravo retired from international cricket following the 2021 T20 World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates. Bravo, who has won two World Cups with West Indies, will continue to represent Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL 2024 tournament, with their campaign starting on Sunday against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Throughout his illustrious T20 career, Bravo has established himself as the leading wicket-taker, claiming 630 wickets in 578 matches. His batting prowess has also been significant, with 6,970 runs scored.

Bravo reflects on CPL journey
Dwayne Bravo, a key member of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) franchise since its inception in 2013, has announced his retirement from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). This decision comes after a decade-long association with the TKR, where he has participated in over 100 CPL matches and claimed 128 wickets.
As the leading wicket-taker in CPL history, Bravo’s retirement marks the end of an era for the tournament. In his emotional farewell note on August 31st, the 40-year-old expressed his desire to conclude his playing career as a TKR all-rounder, acknowledging the franchise’s significant role in launching his CPL journey in 2013.

“It’s been a great journey. Today I would like to announce my retirement from @cplt20. This season will be my last one ☝️ and I’m looking forward to a playing my final professional tournament in front of my Caribbean ppl! @tkriders – where it all started for me and will end with my team that I help built from scratch!”.

Bravo announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in December 2022, ending his association with the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings franchise. With his retirement, Bravo concluded a remarkable T20 career that spanned 578 matches worldwide, including 161 IPL games and 103 CPL outings. Renowned for his exceptional fast bowling skills, Bravo has achieved numerous milestones throughout his career. He holds the record for the highest number of wickets taken in CPL history and is also the leading wicket-taker in all T20 matches combined. With 630 wickets at a remarkable average of 24.28, Bravo has solidified his position as one of the most successful fast bowlers in T20 cricket. Earlier this year, the 40-year-old former West Indies player was appointed as the fast bowling consultant for the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), just ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. This role marked a new chapter in Bravo’s cricketing journey, transitioning from a player to a coaching position.
