Fabrizio Romano Reveals Key Detail That Led to PSG Walking Away from Napoli for Chelsea-Linked Ace

Date:

Paris Saint-Germain was linked to Victor Osimhen all summer, but the Nigerian didn’t move to the French capital. Moreover, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports why the capital club opted not to pursue the now-former Napoli star.

Along with the Parisians, Osimhen was linked to Chelsea, but the Blues’ bids for the 25-year-old didn’t meet the player’s wage demands as their proposal still wasn’t close to the €11 million and €12 million net salary of Osimhen at Napoli.

So, Osimhen didn’t move to Stamford Bridge reportedly for financial reasons, as he probably didn’t want to take a pay cut to secure the move to the Premier League side.

Romano reports that PSG dropped its pursuit of Osimhen when Napoli requested that Lee be included in any potential deal. This came after Napoli initially asked for Osimhen’s release clause. From that point on, PSG didn’t entertain the idea of making a bid for Osimhen.

L’ÉQUIPE also reported that some at PSG were interested in going after Osimhen, particularly after Gonçalo Ramos’ injury.

However, the club ultimately decided against it, with the French outlet noting that Luis Enrique wasn’t in favor of the move, believing that Osimhen didn’t align with his vision and style.
