Dorridge Cricket Club U15s have a “combination of talent” that is “second to none”, coaches say

Two youth cricket teams from the same club are getting ready to play at Lord’s in the junior national championships.

In a double first for Dorridge Cricket Club, its under-13 and 15 squads will be taking part in the ECB’s T20 cup finals in their age groups on 14 September.

The club said it was “immensely proud” of the youngsters, who face Richmond CC and Esher CC respectively.

“It is great to see their hard work and great team spirit paying off,” said Christian Gregory, who manages both teams. “Hopefully we can bring both cups back to Dorridge.”

Asad Khan, lead coach of the under 15 team, described the combination of talent in the squad as “second to none”.

He said the boys’ enjoyment of the game shone through in performances. “Their skills, teamwork and commitment are inspiring, and they play an incredibly positive brand of cricket,” he added.

“Everyone knows their role in the team, and on their day any one of them can be a match winner.”

The club said its U13 side had worked extremely hard at training and on the pitch

The club, which has 27 junior sides playing in Warwickshire youth cricket leagues, has seen many of the youngsters develop their games over the years at its John Woolman ground.

Head of Cricket Paul Rastrick thanked parents and coaches who supported the players’ “remarkable” accomplishments.

“We are immensely proud of their achievements,” he said. “Reaching the finals reflects the hard work the teams put in at training as well as the great work they put in on the pitch.”

Mr Rastrick thanked the ECB and Marylebone Cricket Club, the owner of Lord’s, for running the competition and hosting the finals.

“We are looking forward to a memorable day out at Lord’s,” he added.
