Before they battle this Sunday, Josh Allen was trying to convince Kyler Murray to play more golf

In typical Josh Allen fashion, he let his game do the talking.

Golf game.

The Buffalo Bills will host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 of the National Football League season this Sunday. That means it’s a quarterback matchup between Allen and Kyler Murray.

During their respective press conferences prior to the game, Allen and Murray discussed their relationship.

Allen said the first time they really got to know each other was this past offseason during Christian Kirk’s wedding, who is a receiver on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Allen and Murray faced off on the field once during the “Hail Murray” finale years ago, but what Allen called a “late-night conversation” brought it to the next level.

Murray complimented Allen’s play and referenced how the two have a similar style as dual-threat QBs. Murray also joked that Allen was about “eight inches taller” than him.

But golf is what Allen really brought to the convo, trying to convince Murray to hit the links.

“He talked to me a lot about golf,” Murray joked. “He really enjoys the game. And I think he’s pretty good, but I haven’t really tapped into the golf world.”

Allen has been a regular at PGA Tour events over the years, playing in various pro-ams and taking part in the 2022 Match with teammate Patrick Mahomes.

In 2023, Allen was among the admirers of Tiger Woods at Riviera Country Club, cheering on the golf legend in the Genesis Invitational, which is run by Woods’ TGR Foundation. Allen and Woods shook hands and exchanged some words of encouragement.

“You put on a good tournament,” Allen said grinning.

“Good luck with everything, alright,” Woods said.

After the encounter, Allen was beaming after meeting one of his sports heroes.

“Little star-struck, obviously,” he said. “He’s one of the only athletes ever, him and Kobe (Bryant) are the two guys that I actually felt my heart beat faster when he’s standing over a putt for a tournament. I legit felt the pressure with him. That was pretty cool, never forget it. I’m kinda speechless.”
