Financial Fair Play could block Barcelona summer signing’s registration past December

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s summer signing Pau Victor is only registered with the club until 31 December.

The outlet mentions that if Barcelona wish to keep him for the second half of the season, they must create a financial ‘fair play’ room between now and January to ensure his registration.

Victor is one of two players Barcelona added during the summer transfer window. The young forward was a standout performer for Barça Atletic last season, netting an impressive 20 goals.

Although he was owned by Girona, Barcelona had the option to sign him for €3 million before 1 April. However, at that time, the club was experiencing financial difficulties, and the deal wasn’t completed.

Nevertheless, Deco kept an eye on Victor, and the forward was eventually signed in late July on a contract until 2029.

The club’s official announcement did not specify the details of the transfer fee or the release clause. However, it is understood that Barcelona paid around €2.5 million for him.

He has also been given the number 18 shirt and has been included in the first-team squad.

What has not been widely mentioned is that Victor faces a similar registration issue to Dani Olmo. Sources within Barcelona have confirmed that the young forward, like Olmo, is only registered until the end of this year.

This means Barcelona will need to create financial ‘fair play’ space by January if they wish to continue using him for the rest of the season.

On the positive side for Barcelona, Victor’s salary is much lower compared to Olmo’s, meaning the financial ‘fair play’ adjustments required to keep Victor registered beyond January are considerably less demanding.

Both Victor and his representatives are aware of this situation and remain calm, as there is confidence within the club’s upper management that they will resolve the financial issues and re-register both Victor and Olmo in time for the second half of the season.
