GIRLS TENNIS: Abington Heights, Scranton Prep stay undefeated

Susan Arp, Sona Hanumali, and Amishi Amit swept the singles matches in straight sets to lead Abington Heights to a 5-0 win over North Pocono on Thursday in a battle between girls tennis teams that came into the match undefeated in the Lackawanna League.

Abington Heights’ teams of Sammy Rosenstein-Mary Booth and Bernie Mullin-Jenna Follansbee also won in straight sets as the Lady Comets improved to 7-0.

At Scranton, Lily Lengyel, Alyssa Wigley, and Emma Cuck kept their undefeated records in tact with straight-set wins to lead the defending PIAA Class 2A champions to a 5-0 win over Scranton.

At Riverside, Ella Swingle, Sarah Sweeney, and Emily Evans led Valley View to a 5-0 win.

Noelle Holderith, Jessica Willson, and Ceanna Williams won in straight sets to lead Delaware Valley to a 5-0 win over Holy Cross.

At Dunmore, Mid Valley earned a 4-1 win with Olivia Brzozowski and Lismarie Mercado earning singles wins.

At Montrose, Cara Evans remained undefeated at No. 1 singles, and Harleigh Smith had a singles win as the Lady Meteors defeated Honesdale, 4-1.

Sarah Niemiec, Alaina Burke, and Soleil Wright swept their singles matches to lead Wallenpaupack past Western Wayne, 5-0.

At Wyoming Area, the second-doubles team of Giovanna Fiorillo and Chiara Pugliese clinched the match with a three-set win to lead West Scranton to a 3-2 win in a nonleague match.
