Ravichandran Ashwin has hailed the BCCI for having the DRS for domestic cricket as he uncovered a major technical flaw in batting which could have gone unnoticed.
Team India veteran, Ravichandran Ashwin hailed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for having the decision-review system (DRS) in the domestic circuit.
Ashwin in a post on his official handle on X (formerly known as Twitter) suggested that the inclusion of DRS could prove to be helpful for batters to improve their technique in the long run should they make their way to international cricket.

Taking the example of India D’s Ricky Bhui’s dismissal against Manav Suthar during the Duleep Trophy 2024, Ashwin highlighted a major technical flaw from the batter which could have been written off had the DRS not been in effect.

The batter looked to defend the delivery and had his bat behind the pad. What looked like the standard defensive shot, proved to be costly as he was dismissed via leg-before wicket (LBW).
Ashwin pointed out that having the bat behind the pad would have ensured that the batter would be deemed not out during the pre-DRS era. But with high-quality cameras and ultra-edge, the third-umpire can see whether the batter has nicked it or hit the pad first.

The veteran spinner believes that this flaw could be ingrained in his technique in the long run and could cost him his spot on the national side trying to correct it in the later stages of his career.
In the Duleep Trophy, India C is in firm control against India D with 124 runs needed to win with eight wickets to spare. In the other fixture, India A is pushed back as they trail by 113 runs with two wickets to spare in the first innings.
Ashwin will likely be back in action as Team India gears up for the home Test series against Bangladesh followed by New Zealand. The spinner will be expected to be in top form as the cricketing calendar leads up to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 in Australia.
