Construction will close a Fresno intersection for 2-3 weeks starting Monday. Here’s why

Date:

An intersection at the eastern fringe of Fresno will be shut down starting on Monday and will remain closed for about two to three weeks.

The city of Fresno announced that the closure of the Shields Avenue/Locan Avenue intersection is for crews to do infrastructure improvements to accommodate Clovis Unified School District’s new Terry Bradley Educational Center about 1.4 miles to the southeast.

When it’s completed, the Bradley complex along Highland Avenue at Clinton Avenue will include the new Clovis South High School and Phillip V. Sanchez Intermediate School.

The center will begin opening in phases starting in the fall of 2025 with seventh, eighth and ninth graders, according to information from Clovis Unified.

Nearby major streets will remain open for traffic to move around the construction zone, including Ashlan Avenue to the north, McKinley Avenue to the south, Temperance Avenue to the west and DeWolf Avenue to the east.
