PSG on High Alert: Barcelona Set Sights on Summer Transfer Target in 2025

Date:

Over the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain was linked to Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. However, the veteran opted to remain with the Bavarian side and honor the final year of his contract.

If Kimmich doesn’t extend his deal this season, the standout controls his future, leaving the German giants as a free agent next summer. Moreover, there’s already one club keen on signing the midfielder should he hit free agency.

Mundo Deportivo reports (h/t Diario AS) that Barcelona are targeting Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah and Kimmich for their 2025 plans to boost their midfield and defense.

Furthermore, the Spanish outlet reports that Barcelona hoping to bring Kimmich on board without a transfer fee. The midfielder was a key player for manager Hansi Flick, knowing the manager from his time with Bayern Munich and the Germany national team.

Still, it seems Bayern Munich want him to stay, but Kimmich is considering a move outside the Bundesliga. As the player enters the later stages of his career, it’s no surprise that he might want to experience a different league and country.

It will be interesting to see if the Parisians move for Kimmich and add a veteran voice in the midfield to balance how young the group is.
