Rose Hollerman of Mankato led Team USA with 17 points, but the team lost the Paralympic gold medal match Sunday in Paris to the Netherlands 63-49. Three players on the USA team have Minnesota ties.
This is the second Paralympic medal for the Abby Bauleke, of Savage, and Josie Aslakson, of Jordan, and the third medal for Hollermann, who added a silver to her gold and bronze medals.
Throughout the tournament in Paris, Hollermann was a team leader, with an average of 15.5 points per game before the final match against the Netherlands, along with an average of 21 assists per game and 50 rebounds per game.
Aslakson averaged 14 rebounds per game and three assists, while Bauleke averaged three rebounds per game, and a plus minus of 24 per game.
All three Minnesota athletes played in every game during the Paris tournament.
Team Netherlands claimed gold at the Paris Paralympics with a dominant showing and became the first Paralympians to win back-to-back golds in the sport since the U.S. did it in 2004 and 2008. The Dutch women won every match comfortably, including a 53-point victory over Japan.
