‘Evident interest’: Man Utd now want to sign £21m talent who won Olympic gold – report

Manchester United have made contact with Sevilla over a possible deal for Juanlu Sanchez, according to Spanish outlet ABC Sevilla.

The 21-year-old is one of the best talents at the La Liga outfit. He was recently part of the Spanish side that won Gold at the Olympics.

It is now reported that the Red Devils were impressed by his performances. A club official spoke with a colleague of Victor Orta, who is Sevilla’s sporting director.

United did not follow up with a formal offer, but ABC Sevilla claim that there is ‘evident interest’.

United could consider future move for Sanchez

Sanchez is a hugely versatile player. He has the ability to play anywhere on the right including the right-back position. He can likewise operate from the left wing.

In the current season, the Spaniard has started as a central midfielder in his four outings. His ability to adapt to different positions may have impressed United.

Since INEOS’ minority takeover, the focus has been on pursuing emerging talents or players entering their prime. Sanchez falls into the former of those categories.

Sanchez has no significant strengths at the current point of time, but he has caught the eye with his distribution, ability to provide key passes and recovery pace.

He has a release clause worth £21 million in his contract, but United could prise him away for less next summer if he opts against extending his deal expiring in June 2026.
