Ames boys golfer Ashton Richey was voted the Ames Tribune’s male Athlete of the Week winner for the week of Sept. 1-7.
Richey won a close vote with Ames boys cross country runner Brennen Bhave. Richey received 41% of the vote and Bhave came in with 39%.
Richey turned in the third-best individual score at the Ankeny Golf Invitational boys golf meet held Sept. 5 at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.
Richey carded a two-under-par score of 69. He finished one stroke behind medalist runner-up Braeden Nelson of West Des Moines Valley and two strokes behind medalist Cade Sunde of Valley.
