When Bangladesh created history over MS Dhoni-led Team India | Cricket News – Times of India

Date:

NEW DELHI: The 2015 tour to Bangladesh didn’t go as planned for MS Dhoni-led Team India. The tour featured one Test match and three ODIs. After the solitary Test ended in a draw, attention shifted to the ODI series, held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Bangladesh stunned India in the first ODI on June 18, dominating in all aspects of the game. The standout performer was Bangladesh’s young pace sensation, Mustafizur Rahman, who made an extraordinary debut.
He took an impressive 5-wicket haul, restricting India to 228 runs.

In response, Bangladesh comfortably chased down the target, winning by 79 runs, with strong contributions from Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar.
Despite the loss, India remained favorites to bounce back in the series and win the remaining two ODIs. However, things didn’t go as expected.
In the second ODI, Bangladesh once again outclassed India. Mustafizur was the star once more, claiming 6 wickets for 43 runs.
India, batting first, managed only 200 runs, a total that Bangladesh chased with ease, winning by 6 wickets and sealing the series with one match to spare.

This victory was historic, as Bangladesh claimed their first-ever ODI series win against India.
It was a significant moment, not only for the win itself but also because it secured Bangladesh’s qualification for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.

Though India salvaged some pride with a consolation win in the third ODI, the series will always be remembered for Bangladesh’s dominance and Mustafizur Rahman’s breakthrough performances.
