Fargo Davies basketball star Mason Klabo commits to Illinois State

FARGO — Mason Klabo has made his decision.

Arguably the top high school basketball prospect in North Dakota, the Fargo Davies standout announced his commitment to Illinois State University via social media late Monday night.

The now-senior guard for the Eagles led the state in scoring last season averaging 26.5 points per game after also winning the Eastern Dakota Conference scoring title in his freshman and sophomore seasons.

Since joining the varsity squad as an eighth-grader, Klabo has helped Davies to three EDC regular season championships as well as three East Region tournament championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Klabo also led the conference in assists last season with an average of 5.1 per game and 3-point field goals made at 3.21 per contest.

Fargo Davies’ Mason Klabo drives to score against Grand Forks Central during the East Region boys basketball tournament semifinals on Friday, March 1, 2024, at West Fargo High School.

Illinois State, located in Normal, Illinois, competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Missouri Valley Conference under third-year head coach Ryan Pedon. The Redbirds finished 15-17 overall last season with a 9-11 conference mark.

This story will be updated on Tuesday.
