Led by medalist Jack Novis’ round of 1-under-par 70, the University of Scranton men’s golf team won the Moravian University Weyhill Classic on Monday at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem.
The Royals finished with a team score of 296. That was 18 strokes ahead of Albright College (314). Drew University was third with 320.
Gehrig Shannon shot even-par 71 to place second. Liam Burtis was fifth with a 76, while Danny Harding and Juliano Nieto tied for 10th with a 79.
Women’s golf
At Bethlehem, the University of Scranton finished second at the Moravian University Weyhill Classic at Saucon Valley Country Club. The Royals lost by one stroke, 378-379, to Lebanon Valley College.
Alex Schaul shot 86 to finish tied for fourth individually. Lidia Marranca was seventh with a 91.
Field hockey
Annie Shaw of the University of Scranton was chosen Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday. Shaw had two goals and two assists during the Royals’ 3-0 week.
Women’s soccer
Niamh Healy of the University of Scranton was named Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of Week for the period ending Sunday. Healy had the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute of a 2-1 victory over Stevens. She also scored in a win over Penn State-Berks.
