Top performers: Rochester’s Carson Berberet tallies hat trick in CS8 win

This is a daily list of top performers from Springfield-area high school sports teams for the week of Sept. 16-21, compiled from information provided to The State Journal-Register by coaches, athletic directors and team statisticians.

Tuesday, Sept. 17

⚽ Boys Soccer

Carter Matteson, Lutheran: Scored four goals with three coming in the first half of Lutheran’s 5-1 home victory over Riverton.

Carson Berberet, Rochester: Tallied three goals as Rochester posted a 10-0 shutout win over Decatur MacArthur/Eisenhower in a Central State Eight Conference game.

Keagan Brown, Carlinville: Producedthree goals with an assist as the Cavaliers registered a 7-0 shutout at Pana.

🏐 Volleyball

Reagan McGlauchlen/Izzy Reed/Kennedy Bowker, Pana: McGlauchlen recorded 11 kills, Reed had seven digs and 20 assists and Bowker had a match-high 19 digs in Pana’s 25-23, 25-17 victory over Riverton.

Lucy Ambrose, Springfield High: Totaled three kills and three aces in Springfield’s 25-6, 25-18 loss at Normal U-High.

Brianne Rogers, Jacksonville Routt: Collected 11 digs on the defensive end, but Routt lost to Greenfield/Northwestern 25-20, 25-11.

🏌 Boys Golf

Owen Paluska, South County: The medalist shot a 2-over-par 38 as South County finished with a score of 160 in a five-team meet victory over Raymond Lincolnwood (172), Ramsey (182), Lutheran (185) and Mount Olive (193) at Timber Lakes Golf Course.

Matt Overby, Staunton: Had the low score of 4-over-par 40 for Staunton to lead the Bulldogs to a two-stroke win, 169-171 over Litchfield in a five-team meet at Timber Lakes Golf Course.

🏌 Girls golf

Rian Deardorff, Raymond Lincolnwood: Won medalist honors and led the Lancers with a 43 in a triangular victory over South County and Mount Olive at Timber Lakes Golf Course.

Monday, Sept. 16

🏌 Girls Golf

Taylor Keirs, North Mac: Posted a 2-over-par 38 to win medalist honors as North Mac won a quadrangular meet with a score of 138 over Raymond Lincolnwood, Carlinville and Litchfield at Carlinville Country Club.

🏌 Boys Golf

Cam Early, North Mac: Carded a 3-over-par 35 and three other players finished in the 30s in North Mac’s triangular victory over Raymond Lincolnwood and Auburn at Oak Hills Golf Course in Girard.

Bryce Cowdrey, Raymond Lincolnwood: Won medalist honors with a 2-over-par 34 in Lincolnwood’s five stroke loss to North Mac at Oak Hills Golf Course in Girard.

⚽ Boys Soccer

Thomas Garst/Thomas Davis, SHG: Garst scored the game-tying goal and Davis knocked in the game-winner as SHG scored twice in the second half to beat Carlinville 2-1 in a nonconference game.

Dom McDonald/Joel Gove, Pleasant Plains: The duo scored two goals apiece in Plains’ 8-1 victory over visiting Riverton.

🏐 Volleyball

Mackenzie Mehochko/Lizzy Hill, Nokomis: Mehochko finished with seven kills and seven digs and Lizzy Hill served five aces and scored 17 points in Nokomis’ 25-10, 25-5 victory over South County.

Hannah Gibson, Carlinville: Notched seven kills, four service aces and one block to lead Carlinville past Raymond Lincolnwood 25-18, 25-12 in a nonconference match.

Riley Holliday/Hannah Holliday, Williamsville: Riley furnished 19 assists and five digs while younger sister Hannah had seven kills, six digs and two aces in a 26-24, 25-15 win over Deer Creek-Mackinaw.
