Reigning NCAA Goaltender of the Year Michelle Pasiechnyk Moves on From Hockey

Date:

The NCAA’s reigning national Goaltender of the Year Michelle Pasiechnyk will not return to NCAA hockey this season as the goalie has moved on from the sport.

As confirmed by Clarkson, Pasiechnyk has stepped away from the game after four seasons at Clarkson. With her performance in the NCAA, many expected Pasiechnyk to be a highly sought after player for the 2025 PWHL Draft, and a netminder who could soon be in contention for a spot with Team Canada.

In four seasons at Clarkson, Pasiechnyk posted a combined 1.58 GAA and .935 save percentage along with 21 shutouts in 109 games.

The Ottawa product grew up playing with the Ottawa Lady 67s, and later in the OWHL with the Nepean Wildcats.

Last season, Pasiechnyk posted the best numbers in her NCAA career with a 1.34 GAA and .945 save percentage, along with eight shutouts. Her 25-5-1 record made the Clarkson Golden Knights one of the top teams in NCAA hockey.

Perhaps the crowning moment of Pasiechnyk’s season came in the NCAA national championship tournament. After receiving an opening round bye ranked fourth in the nation, Clarkson faced WCHA powerhouse Minnesota. Pasiechnyk was spectacular stoppign 62 shots in a 3-2 quadruple overtime win that sent Clarkson to the Frozen Four, where their run was ended by the event national champions Ohio State.

To be named the NCAA Goaltender of the Year in 2024, Michelle Pasiechnyk beat out finalists Raygan Kirk and Gwyneth Philips who both were PWHL Draft picks, and signed multi-year contracts this season.
