Alabama basketball lands No. 38 overall prospect London Jemison over Kansas, Louisville

Date:

Alabama basketball did not hold a commitment in the 2025 class before Sept. 10. Now head coach Nate Oats and assistant Preston Murphy have two top-75 players in the fold just 11 days later.

Four-star London Jemison picked the Crimson Tide over Kansas and Louisville among others. He made his announcement LIVE on the 247Sports YouTube Channel on Saturday afternoon.

“It’s the perfect type of scheme for me,” he told 247Sports during his announcement. “Coach Oats does great with wings that play similar to me. Winning is definitely important for me and they just were just in a Final Four, so that was definitely a big turn on for me when it comes to that school. I had a relationship with coach Preston (Murphy). He was my AAU coach. I knew when I went there, it just felt like home and like family to me.”

The Oakdale (CT) standout is the No. 9 power forward, No. 38 overall player and No. 1 prospect in Connecticut, per the Top247 player rankings. The 247Sports Composite also ranks Jemison as the No. 38 overall player and top-ranked prospect in his state, but is a spot lower at No. 10 power forward.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pounder was in Tuscaloosa for an official visit during the weekend of Sept. 6. Multi-day trips were also taken to Louisville (Aug. 23) and Kansas (Aug. 31).

The Crimson Tide made a major move after the trip and many believed it was down to the program fresh off a Final Four appearance and the Cardinals.

Alabama won out in the end and Jemison joins No. 66 overall player Amari Allen in the class. Allen, a Green Bay (WI) native, picked the Crimson Tide over schools like Minnesota, Wisconsin and UCF among others on Sept. 10. Read up on what 247Sports’ Adam Finkelstein thinks about the fit HERE. The 6-foot-7, 180-pounder recently rose 40 spots in the Top247 rankings as well.

“A 6-foot-8 forward with inside-out ability, Jemison is really emerging as a jump shooter from the corners and a guy who can cause a lot of matchup problems,” reads a note from 247Sports national analyst Eric Boss in June after the NBPA Top 100 Camp.

Jemison averaged 14.3 points, 48% FG, 37% 3pt, 75% FT, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.6 turnovers, 0.8 steals, 1.2 blocks in 19 EYBL games this year.

“Jemison is a combo-forward who came up the ranks as a hybrid four, but has shown some real potential as a big wing in recent months,” reads an abbreviated scouting report from Adam Finkelstein earlier this month. “The biggest area of growth in his game has been his outside shooting. He’s always had a soft natural touch, but was an unreliable shooter, at best. As recently as a year ago, Jemison displayed an inconsistent release point and flat ball. Surprisingly, the three-point line became his niche this grassroots season. He knocked down 37% while attempting almost six threes per game.”

LOOKING AHEAD…

The next wave of official visitors is not expected until the end of the month when Georgia comes into town for a showdown against the Crimson Tide, which will be the first conference game for Kalen DeBoer. The group of early expected visitors includes No. 1 overall player AJ Dybantsa and another top-10 player in Meleek Thomas.
