While Ravichandran Ashwin stole the headlines in the Chennai Test between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai as his stunning all-round show which included a century and five-wicket haul was key to the home team winning by 280 runs, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja‘s contribution was equally important.
It was Jadeja, who stiched a 199-run partnership with Ashwin in the first innings and helped the Rohit Sharma-led side post a massive first innings total of 376 on the board. The 35-year-old made a knock of 86. Later, he took two vital innings in the first innings and followed it up with three wickets in the second.
Ravindra Jadeja Creates History
Jadeja wrote his name in the history books by retaining his status as the Indian to score a half-century and take more than five wickets in a match the most number of times in Test cricket history. Jadeja achieved the feat for the 12th time in his career and remains ahead of Ashwin, who has completed the same feat 11 times in his Test career.
Ashwin and Jadeja are the only Indians in history to complete the incredible all-round feat more than 10 times in their career, with Kapil Dev (7) a distant third. Harbhajan Singh completed the half-century + five wickets in a Test match double three times. No other player has achieved the same feat more than twice.

The Indian team will now move to Kanpur, where they will face Bangladesh in the second Test on Friday (September 27).
